New Irish Postcode System

The Republic of Ireland (ROI) has implemented a national postcode system, known as Eircode, which identifies the postal address of a specific property, rather than a cluster of addresses.

Eircodes are unique 7-character codes consisting of letters and numbers. Each Eircode is made up of a 3-character routing key to identify the area and a 4-character unique identifier for each address.

As of 2 July 2023, the inclusion of Eircodes for shipments entering the ROI will become mandatory on all DHL Express shipping solutions.

Invalid or missing postcodes after this date may result in delays and potential address correction surcharges.

More information on Eircodes can be found here.
