Exporting to Amazon FBA/Fulfilment Centres in Europe

It is now recommended that all Amazon shipments into the EU should have a broker based in the EU country to do the clearance unless your current procedure is still working for you. However, please be advised that World Options cannot guarantee that it will continue to work.

You may use our Amazon FBA Commercial Invoice if you have a broker based in the EU country to do the clearance.

Please see further guidance from the Amazon website here.

Key Points for Amazon

  • Incoterms should be DDP (delivered duty paid).
  • Amazon will not get involved in any clearance instructions.
  • You need an EU EORI number as the importer of record as Amazon is not the importer, your Company will be both the exporter and importer when moving stock to an Amazon location.
  • You should attach the Amazon FBA label  (seller information) on the outside of the box along with the Courier label.
  • A product label and a certificate of analysis should be emailed to Amazon and also sent to the Health Services for the destination country if requested.

Commercial Invoice Guidance

  • Use the GB & EU EORI number and GB VAT number for both the ship to/sold to address
  • When using EU VAT / EORI numbers, enter the ship to the company as "Your Company c/o Amazon”, followed by the destination address, and change the sold to address details to be those of the sender in the UK.
  • On very rare occasions we have found that putting “Amazon” in the company name for the ship to/sold to address has caused delays so if your customer has experienced this previously, then you could advise them to remove it from the company name and instead enter it into Address Line 1.
  • When selecting the type of export, this should be “permanent”.
  • When stating the reason for export, it is advisable to select “Other” and then in the box that appears to the right, enter “Amazon stock” or similar.

Power of Attorney (POA)

If your Company or the receiver has not previously signed a POA with a carrier or is using them for the first time, then you may be asked to complete a POA. This document will provide legal authorization for the carrier to process clearance instructions with Customs.

The POA is completed by the party responsible for clearance and only needs to be completed once for each carrier.

E.g. If the goods are being exported to Europe on DDP terms, the sender will be responsible for completing the POA form.

Shipping Pallets

Amazon requires a Logistics service provider to have an Amazon accredited shipping license for Pallets.  This is a different type of service for Amazon. The logistics service needs to be an accredited shipper and so shipping via a normal courier may not work in certain countries.

Returns

Please note that Amazon may refuse the delivery and return the goods if they are overcapacity due to the high amount of goods waiting to be booked in.
